Dr. Pawan Tambade pursued Bachelor of Science, Master of Science (Organic Chemistry) at Department of Chemistry, Shri Shivaji College, Akola, Maharashtra. After receiving Masters degree, he began his doctorate under the mentorship of Prof. Bhalchandra M. Bhanage at the Department of Chemistry, Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai.  During this tenure he received Fellowship from Department of TechnicalEducation Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP), World bank and Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), New Delhi. His doctoral work was focussed on development of transition metal catalysts for carbonylation reactions.
After his doctoral work, he was employed as a Senior Research Scientist at TATA groups-Advinus Therapeutics Ltd., Bangalore (18 months). During this tenure he was engaged with development of new drugs for neglected diseases (TB, Visceral leishmaniasis) and other custom synthetic products. His expertise lies in design and development of catalysts for various coupling reactions, development of non-infringing synthetic routes for drugs and drug intermediates, Synthesis of biologically active drug molecules, process optimization, cost reduction, resolution of chiral isomers.

He has authored 29 publications during this tenure and has received various fellowships, presentation prizes and travel grants. He received DST (Department of Science & Technology)-DFG (German Research) Award for participation in 59th Meeting of Nobel Laureates & Students at Lindau, Germany as a young researcher during, June-July 2009.

Since February 2012, he has been appointed as Assistant Professor in Chemistry Department of KTHM College Nashik, University of Pune. His research interests include design and development of catalysts for various coupling reactions, Multi Component Reactions (MCR’s), synthetic routes and strategies for the synthesis of biological active compounds, development of novel methods for C-N and C-C bond formation.
